Bako National Park is a national park of Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. The oldest park of Sarawak was found in 1957. It covers an area of 27.27 square kilometres (10.53 sq mi). It is located at the tip of the Muara Tebas peninsula at the mouth of the Bako and Kuching Rivers. It is approximately 40 kilometres from Kuching city.

However, this beautiful park can be reached boat ride, but it worth it. This area is treasure for nature lovers and the ones who love hiking. Mostly adventure lovers visit for day-trip, but if you can stay for more than one day as accommodations such as campground and forestry service bungalows are in your service.
Bako is one of the smallest national parks in Sarawak. However, it features multiple biomes (including rainforest), abundant wildlife, jungle streams and waterfalls, secluded beaches, and trekking trails. A network of 16 marked walking trails of different lengths allows visitors access. In addition, various beaches are accessible by boat from Kampung Bako or Teluk Assam, as well as a geologically interesting sea stack rock formation. The different sort of attractions and activities in a compact area have made Bako one of the most popular parks in Sarawak.

Approximately 150 endangered proboscis monkeys live Bako and this place is name as “the best place to get to see proboscis monkeys in state of Sarawak”. However, Bako is home for other animals as well, such as long-tailed macaque, silvered langur, plantain squirrel, Bornean bearded pig, monitor lizard, otters and to a number of lizards and snakes, most of which are risk-free. You can see these mentioned animals in the forest while hiking also you can meet them while sitting at café or walking at camp headquarters on Telok Assam beach. Be careful with belongings because monkeys might steal your food or grab your sunglasses or even phones from your hands.
