1.Anthony Abell College
Anthony Abell College (AAC; Malay: Maktab Anthony Abell) is a government secondary school in Seria, a town in Belait District, Brunei. It was one of the earliest secondary schools to be established in the country. The school provides five years of general secondary education leading up to O Level qualification. It has 630 students. The current principal is Mas Diana binti Haji Abdul Samat.
The early education began in 1952. Anthony Abell College founded in December 1952 and was known as the “Government English School”. The first building was only a scout hut located in Jalan Sultan, Kuala Belait. This building housed 22 students and one teacher who was also the principal, Mr. D.S. Carter.
2.Awang Semaun Secondary School
Awang Semaun Secondary School (Malay: Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun, abbreviated as SMAS), is a co-educational government secondary school located in Kampong Sungai Kebun, Brunei. Awang Semaun Secondary School was established in March 1982 by the name ‘Sungai Kebun English Secondary School’. It was first located at the present Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College before it moved to its current location on 3 February 1983. On 13 December 1984 marked its official opening by the then Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz. The occasion was marked by the renaming of the school as Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun (Awang Semaun Secondary School), a tribute to a Brunei legendary hero.
3.Berakas Secondary School
Berakas Secondary School (Malay: Sekolah Menengah Berakas, abbreviated as SMB) is a government secondary school located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. The school provides secondary education leading up to GCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE qualifications. Berakas Secondary School was established in 1971 as Berakas English School.[1] In 1985, the school was renamed to as it is known today.
4.International School Brunei
International School Brunei (ISB) is an international school split over two sites, one located in the Sungai Akar area of Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei and the other located in Seria in the Belait district. It is the first international school to be set up in Brunei. The current executive principal is Tony Macfadyen.[1] The school has four sections: pre- kindergarten, kindergarten, primary, and secondary.
5.Jerudong International School
Jerudong International School (Abbrev: JIS) is a co- educational, boarding and day school in Brunei, Southeast Asia. It has over 1680 students – of which around 200 are boarding students.[4] Less than 50% of its student body are Bruneians, with the remainder fulfilled by students from 55 countries. Jerudong International School first opened its doors for primary education in January 1997 and subsequently for secondary in October of the same year.[4] JIS offers a British International education.
